Have you asked yourself Why? I am not talking about...Why do these things happen to me? kind of question. I am talking about the deep Why question. Why am I a Realtor? What is it inside of me that has this calling? So let's do the following exercise: First ask yourself: Why did I become a Realtor? (I will play along as we go, please answer yourself as honestly as possible!) Answer: I became a Realtor because I think/know I can help people find a home and make money in the process. Question: Why do you want to help people find a home? Answer: Because I know I can do a great job. Question: Why do you think you can do a great job? Answer: Because I know that I can help families get a good house they can call home. Question: Why do you want to help families find a place they can call home? Answer: Because in helping families getting a place they can call home, I feel I have help them get settled. Question: Why is it important for you to feel that you have helped a family get settled? Answer: Because having been an immigrant feeling kind of lost in this new country, I felt I belonged here once I bought my home. (wow, that was deep!!!) Now I know the driving forces and emotions that make me a Realtor! Ok, so here are some interesting facts from this exercise: Notice how the language changes from action words (i.e. I know I can, I think I can, I want) to emotional words (i.e. I feel) Notice how I went from saying "people" to "families" Notice how important it became to me to help my customers. So, What's next?. What do we do with this information? This simple yet profound exercise can help you find your market niche, the true cause for being a Realtor which will translate into powerful marketing messages now that you know Why you do what you do.
